Knowledge types in interdisciplinary research

At the different steps of the Delta-Analysis are specific knowledge types paramount:

 

System knowledge:

Knowledge about natural scientific/ technical, economic, social scientific methods and theories to:

  • Structure problems
  • To identify various configuration options  
  • To analyse the connected effects, including risks and chances, and to evaluate them with normative criteria’s (in connection to Orientation knowledge)

 

Normative Orientation:

Knowledge about legal requirements, societal mission statements and ethical fundamental principles as well as the ability to formulate requirements for the achievement of individual and organisational responsibility, to determine and justify a corresponding need for change

 

Transformative knowledge:

Knowledge about how processes into the direction of Sustainable Development can be realized in specific action constellations, but also in society generally

 

Tacit knowledge

Especially actors can contribute knowledge about system connections and impediments
